Shows I've binge watched lately — NOTES OF WINTER

Shows I've binge watched lately

(This picture isn't mine)

Anyone else with the same problem? You know, the one when you watch an entire tv show (or just the last season) in a very short amount of time. Well, I plead guilty. I officially confess: I'm one of those who cannot watch a tv show in a normal amount of time. I need to binge watch everything, especially when I really love a new show or when they (finally) release something I'm up to date. I'm presenting here the tv show I recently binge watched and loved. God, help me, I have a real problem. This list includes tv shows I've watched in December and January, only on Netflix. Because I'm an addict. With that being said, let's jump to the list.

HAPPY MERRY WHATEVER

Merry Happy Whatever takes place over the week or so around Christmas at the Quinn household. The story follows Don Quinn as he struggles with different stresses of the holidays. They are further complicated as Emmy, the youngest of the family, brings home her boyfriend Matt from California. The pair seeks Don's permission to get married. The controlling patriarch of the family is not pleased because Matt is a struggling musician.

A Christmas TV show. So surprising isn't it? No, movies aren't enough, okay? In my opinion, it's funny but a bit dramatic from time to time. I really liked it, I watched it in a very short amount of time, few hours maybe. Easy to follow and to watch.

VIRGIN RIVER

Virgin River follows Melinda "Mel" Monroe, who answers an ad to work as a midwife and nurse practitioner in the remote California town of Virgin River, thinking it will be the perfect place to start fresh and leave her painful memories behind. But she soon discovers that small-town living isn’t quite as simple as she expected. She must learn to heal herself before she can truly make Virgin River her home.

This one was amazing. Beautiful. And I cried more than once. I watched it as soon as it went out, I don't really know why but I was so inspired by this. Netflix renewed it for a second season and I cannot wait! One of my favorite.

HOME FOR CHRISTMAS

Johanne is a nurse in her 30s, working at a hospital in Norway. During Advent dinner, she feels pressured by her family to be in a relationship. She lies and tells them that she has a boyfriend, and that he will accompany her to Christmas dinner...

And I'm going to stop there because I don't want to spoil anything. It's a Norwegian show and it's really really good. The thematic is really interesting, as an almost 30 years old single girl, I can completely relate to this. I even want to lie something and be like "I have a boyfriend" because being single that late this... a pain. That's another subject. But really great.

YOU

The first season follows the story of Joe Goldberg, a bookstore manager in New York, who upon meeting Guinevere Beck, an aspiring writer, becomes infatuated with her. He feeds his toxic obsession using social media and other technology to track her presence and remove obstacles to their romance.

I don't know if I need to present this one tho. Season 2 is finally up! And I already binge watched it. Oups. Now I'm almost crying because I have to wait for an entire year to get the third season. It's probably one of my favorite tv show, it's so twisted and insane. And frightening as well. I'm not going to say more.

SPINNING OUT

"Spinning Out" follows Kat Baker, an up-and-coming, high-level single skater who’s about to turn in her skates after a disastrous fall took her off the competition track. When Kat seizes an opportunity to continue her career as a pair skater with a talented bad-boy partner, she risks exposing a fiercely kept secret that could unravel her entire life. On and off the ice, Kat and her new partner will face daunting odds, injury to body and soul, financial sacrifice, and even potential mental breakdown on their way to realizing their Olympic dream.

It took me a while to get into this one but after watching the first three episodes, I couldn't just leave it, you know? So, yes. I finished it. It's sad. I cannot wait to see if there's going to be another season. The whole mental breakdown aspect of the show is tearing me up but the show is so worthy!

SEX EDUCATION

The first series follows the story of Otis Milburn, a socially awkward teenager, who is ambivalent about sex, despite, or perhaps because of, his mother being a sex therapist who is frank about all aspects of sexuality. After inadvertently assisting the school bully with his sexual performance anxiety, Otis sets up a sex advice business with Maeve —a confident but troubled classmate— to educate their fellow students in how to deal with their own sexual problems.

I was late on that one but I watched the entire show quite quickly. Damn, it's great. I wonder why I haven't started it before. Better late than never tho. Fun, easy to watch, I cried a bit as well but other than that, it's the type of tv show you need to watch when you want something entertaining.

CHILLING ADVENTURES OF SABRINA

Sabrina Spellman must reconcile her dual nature as a half-witch, half-mortal while fighting the evil forces that threaten her, her family and the daylight world humans inhabit.

It's dark and satanic but oh my god, I love it, so so much. I've been waiting for part 3 since I finished part 2 (which was the released day, of course). I remember having difficulties at the beginning probably because I grew up with the sweet and more angelic Sabrina Spellman but once you go past that, it's one of the best tv show every. So, thank you, Netflix. I needed this one in my life, I just didn't know it. Also, can we have part 4 already?

I'll do a list like this one probably every couple of months (maybe every 3 months, depending the releases) because I'm watching a lot of tv show on a daily basis and there's so many underrated tv show that needs to be seen by each one of you. I don't know if Netflix has a secret but everything seems to be really good, well done. What are your current tv shows? The one you are watching and you really really love? Let me know, give me suggestions, I'm often out of ideas.
